Sunflowers N Hummingbirds!

Up the street where I lived many moons ago, is a field of sunflowers. I believe these are from the days when Natorp grew them there, and these are the remainders...just growing along as they please! It seems this is the closest local spot to photograph them as people photographing come from miles around to do so! Some bring their high school senior girls and stick them amidst the flowers for special shots!! All in all, it's a ton of fun! Here's a couple of my shots....

Then, several days later, I managed a three hour drive to visit my friend in Indiana. She had told me that MANY hummingbirds visit her feeders, and that they keep her hopping daily just re-filling them with their special homemade nectar! And she was RIGHT! We saw TONS of hummingbirds, sometimes 5-8 at a time swarming a feeder! I managed a couple of shots but was unhappy not to have enough flash gear with me! Here are a shot or two:

Yep, the ones moving are LOTS harder to photograph!

All in all, I seem to be doing lots more photography in Ohio than I was in Florida! Go figure! Maybe it's the friends in OH I have that accompany me and help get me 'out there'.....
Keep Shooting!

Larry's Email!! "Who's Larry?", you say!

The other day, I got a surprise email from my ole friend from high school, named Larry! We go way back! Larry and family were traveling by air recently from Columbus, Ohio. He wrote a fine email to me, saying that they happened upon a display of photos there, and lo and behold, they were mine! He said something else very nice. He mentioned, "WOW ! What an amazing, talented artist you are. I looked at your website this morning and enjoyed viewing samples of your work. You must really be proud of all the wonderful pieces that you have created. Really, really neat ! I know where to go now if I am ever in need of a great piece of art or the talents of a truly remarkable, professional artist."
I was stunned at such a wonderful thought. And I hadn't even sent him there to look!!! LOL But seriously, it was wonderful to hear from an ole friend and I certainly appreciate his kind comments!!!

Anyhow...there is still time to go see my photos that have been on display, 23 of them....on the walls of the Columbus Ohio's International Airport,
until September 5, 2012!
Go in on the Ticketing Level. There is a Max and Erma's Restaurant.

Just past it, and to the LEFT as you walk toward the Gates...you will see a hallway.
GO DOWN IT AND TO THE RIGHT! And there they are!!
Each photo is for sale and what I consider to be some of my not necessarily recent yet best! Have fun!
And if you do go, and would like to let me know...here is my email address:

Still Life Photography...Trying something new..

AND......I hope I get better at it....
So far the following photos are the results from a recent try of mine at taking photos in the same vein as the Dutch Masters from the 1600-1700's. This was quite a challenge...involving arrangement (better known as composition), lighting, etc. to get things "juuuuuuust right". Turns out, this takes lots of....
PATIENCE!!!
Anyhow.....on to seeing the results!

And then, some I shot were not exactly in the manner of the masters...of course!

Okay...that's it for now...I'll probably be playing with Still Lifes more....
